Cosmetic dentistry in Berkane
A balanced, natural-looking smile through modern cosmetic treatments.
Cosmetic dentistry corrects the shade, shape and visible alignment of teeth. Two treatments make up most of it: professional whitening, which acts on colour without touching the structure of the tooth; and veneers, thin ceramic shells bonded to the visible surface to change its shape.
Cosmetic Dentistry: our treatments in detail

One non-negotiable condition: a healthy mouth
No cosmetic work is carried out on a decayed tooth or an inflamed gum. A veneer bonded to a tooth that has not been treated, or whitening applied to inflamed gums, turns a treatable problem into a lasting one.
The initial assessment therefore checks the condition of the teeth and the gums, and the order of the treatment plan puts the necessary care before the cosmetic work. That is not a formality.
Teeth whitening
Professional whitening uses a peroxide-based gel that lightens the internal shade of the tooth. It can be done in the chair, at home with custom-made trays, or as a combination of the two.
It works on natural teeth, and on those only. Crowns, veneers and existing composite fillings do not change colour: replacing them may become necessary to restore a consistent look, and that has to be anticipated before starting.
Sensitivity to cold during treatment is common and temporary. The result is not permanent: it fades over time, and faster if you regularly drink tea or coffee, or smoke.
Dental veneers
A veneer is a thin ceramic shell bonded to the visible surface of a tooth. It can correct a shade that whitening will not reach, an irregular shape, a chipped edge or a slight misalignment.
Fitting one usually involves preparing the enamel — minimally, but irreversibly: a tooth prepared for a veneer will have to stay covered. It is a long-term commitment, decided after a simulation rather than on an impression.
- 3D digital impression and reference photographs
- A simulation of the proposed result, discussed and adjusted before any preparation
- Computer-aided design, then milling of the ceramic
- Try-in, adjustments, then final bonding
When orthodontics is the better answer
Marked misalignment cannot be properly corrected with veneers: it would mean cutting into healthy teeth to compensate for their position. In those situations, orthodontic treatment first — sometimes short, limited to the front teeth — gives a more stable result while preserving tooth structure.
The assessment is what settles the choice between the two routes, or combines them.
Frequently asked questions
Does whitening damage enamel?
Carried out by a dentist, with controlled concentrations and timings, it does not alter the structure of the enamel. The risk lies with poorly dosed over-the-counter products and repeated unsupervised use, which cause sensitivity and gum irritation.
How long does whitening last?
The result fades gradually, faster or slower depending on diet and smoking. A top-up session at regular intervals maintains it. No fixed duration can be quoted: it depends on individual habits.
Are veneers reversible?
No, once the enamel has been prepared. The tooth will have to stay covered by a veneer or a crown. That is why the decision is taken after a simulation, and why less invasive alternatives are considered first.
Can a root-treated tooth be whitened?
A root-treated tooth that has darkened does not respond to external whitening. It calls for internal bleaching, carried out from inside the tooth, or a covering restoration depending on its condition.
